Specialists from Tyumenneftegeofizika (a division of GEOTEK) have begun mineral exploration in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug using a new technology: geophysical seismic survey data is recorded while in motion.
The Russian oilfield services company GEOTEK has completed geological exploration of a 164 sq. km license area in the Orenburg region ahead of schedule. During the fieldwork, the company utilized the 3D Common Depth Point (MOGT-3D) method.
As part of the preparations for the 2024-2025 winter field season, specialists from AO «GEOTEK» have completed training under the program «Design, Operation, Maintenance, and Repair of Vostok BV62T/62 Self-Propelled Seismic Signal Units.»
Seismoparty-217 of the oilfield services company GEOTEK has completed preparations, passed an audit, and commenced field operations as part of the 2024-2025 winter field season in Western Siberia. The production program for this project includes approximately 290 sq. km of 3D seismic surveys (MOGT-3D), according to GEOTEK President Roman Panov.
Russian oil and gas companies, despite the need to maintain the resource base, are in no hurry to begin geological exploration in new remote regions, as this is an expensive pleasure without sufficient guarantees. Therefore, the state should stimulate them. The greatest efficiency in this area can only be achieved through joint efforts with participants in the fuel and energy sector, who will subsequently conduct further exploration and development.
After the departure of foreign players, the Russian oilfield services sector faced the need to accelerate the development of its own technologies for the development of new hydrocarbon provinces. Market participants believe that the main obstacle to this is the lack of investment, which can be offset by government support. If dependence on foreign technologies continues, oil production in Russia may fall by 20% by 2030, experts predict.
